Adsense Manager Plugin Comes To Rescue Affiliate Links
By MaxAfter several days of intense evaluation of various banners and links management plugins (about 10 of them), I got a winner - Adsense Manager Plugin. I had a problem with 2 niche blogs with expired affiliate links, and when visitors click on a link they’ve shown broken link message or a product not related to the post. Problem multiplies because I had same affiliate links published on many posts.
Why broken links happen? In my case, I was promoting offers from CPA networks and publishers canceled promotions for Free Trial offers. CPA managers did not notify me about it, and profits from 2 blogs dropped 70%.
Why it was so bad?
Blogs are in health-related niche on popular subject, 80+ posts were already published and 10 affiliate links embedded in various places in posts (banners on the left, text links inside post and banners at the end of post).
You see, when all 10 links became invalid, I had to either replace them with text ad units (like Adsense) or another affiliate product. It sounds easy, but it quickly became a nightmare. I had to
1) Find post with broken affiliate links.
2) Find and replace all broken links inside post.
3) Repeat steps 1 and 2 for 80+ posts.
After fixing few posts I knew I have to have a better way to manage and change affiliate links on my blogs. Here is what I wanted to do:
1) Manage all affiliate links (ad units) in one location.
2) Easy way to modify broken link in one location.
3) Insert small code snippet into a post or sidebar widget that will become a banner or text link to affiliate product when post is published.
4) Give meaningful name to code snippet so that I know what affiliate product I am promoting.
Adsense Manager Plugin satisfied all my requirements and after testing it became my must-have plugin for wordpess blog to manage affiliate links and banners. The plugin is easy to use, all my ad units, links and banners are managed in one location, I can edit a code of any ad in minutes and I don’t have to edit posts or sidebar at all. What a relief!
