After several days of intense evaluation of various banners and links management plugins (about 10 of them), I got a winner - Adsense Manager Plugin. I had a problem with 2 niche blogs with expired affiliate links, and when visitors click on a link they’ve shown broken link message or a product not related to the post. Problem multiplies because I had same affiliate links published on many posts.

Why broken links happen? In my case, I was promoting offers from CPA networks and publishers canceled promotions for Free Trial offers. CPA managers did not notify me about it, and profits from 2 blogs dropped 70%.

Drop Adsense – Go Affiliate Marketing

This post reports result of my test to evaluate performance of affiliate products versus Adsense. I choose affiliate product in TV market and decided to publish Squidoo review-type lens for this product, since I don’t have my own blog related to TV.

Squidoo lens setup. Short, about 500 words, review of the affiliate product optimized for TV-related keywords.

My lens had one link to the product with call to action, and Squidoo served Adsense ads. I decided from the start NOT to promote or update the lens to keep test clean.

I am always amazed by continuous push from old-school Adsense marketers to monetize your blog with Adsense. C’mon guys, it’s not 2005 anymore. Even more amazing is a fact that they have thousands of followers religiously stacking Adsense ads all over their sites and blogs.

Fellow bloggers and site owners, don’t you have a better plan for a limited space on your virtual real estate? Are you really satisfied with cents paid to you when visitors click and leave your site?
